The Faith Once Delivered
Feast of Tabernacles Sermon by Kim MyersBeloved, I find it necessary to urge you to contend for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. God calls us to stoutly defend the truth He gave, to keep it without change through the years. Yet, some godless individuals have secretly gained admission among us, perverting the grace of our God into licentiousness and denying our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. These individuals sow false doctrines and impure practices, turning the grace of God into a covering for sin. We must stand firm against the watering down of the faith once delivered, as seen in the greater churches of God today. Over time, some have added to or taken away from this faith, introducing controversies and changes not part of the original truth. Examples abound, such as altering church practices, compromising on the observance of the Sabbath, and neglecting proper reverence in dress and attitude when coming before God. The Sabbath, a holy time, is often treated casually, with activities and behaviors that dishonor its sanctity. God warns us against being unequally yoked with unbelievers, as dating or marrying outside the faith often leads to compromise or conflict, threatening our spiritual integrity. We are called to be a peculiar people, different in our ways, showing respect and reverence for God in all aspects of life. The Israelites of old failed to keep the faith once delivered, adding to and subtracting from God's commands over generations, leading to their downfall. We, however, have been given all the tools needed to succeed, and God desires to give us the Kingdom. Through many trials, we must continue in the faith, as God exhorts us to make our calling and election sure. Let us not seek smooth words or deceits, but hold fast to the truth, ensuring an abundant entrance into the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
