Description: Greg Smith, expounding on the topic of spiritual maturity, reflects that a grown man cannot marry a baby girl. The begettal (imparting of God's Holy Spirit), gestation and birth analogy applied to our growth in the church (our spiritual mother) describes the process of our calling, the development of character and the accumulation of experience. The development of character is our purpose for being alive. Certain spiritual gifts are imparted to enable members of the church (Christ's body) to fully mature spiritually. God allows trials-even searing trials - proving and testing our faith. Wisdom, faith, character, and spiritual maturity can only be developed through experiences, following in the footsteps of our Elder Brother, made perfect through suffering. While we sojourn on earth, suffering trials and tests, we are developing character now. We need to stand faithful with each other in this process. (30 minutes)
