Sermonette: Offerings as Object Lessons
Teaching Us to Serve Selflessly
#1177s

description: (hide) The Day of Atonement is an anomaly among the holy days, in that on the others we all feel ebullient and jubilant, but on Atonement, we feel fragileness and our temporariness. We have far less energy and are more subdued. We humbly and soberly recognize that without the sacrifice of Christ, we would not be reconciled to God. The multiple offerings coupled with the command to fast teach us to humble ourselves, enabling us to be of service to others, imitating the mindset and attitude of Jesus Christ.
