sermon: Are You Sure You Believe in God? Part 1

The Fool Says 'There Is No God'
Martin G. Collins
Given 05-Jul-08; Tape #890; 67 minutes

Description: (hide)

Martin Collins cites some quotations from an atheist writer who rationalizes his belief in no God by stating that suffering could no longer be blamed on an omniscient deity, allowing him to pursue his narcissistic lifestyle without guilt. The psalmist, David, (Psalm 14:1) insists that all people having this mind set are fools, antithetically contrasted with people of understanding. To refuse to acknowledge or fear God is to hate knowledge. Unfortunately, some in the church of God are hesitant to stand up to scoffers out of fear of peer pressure or public opinion. Failure to keep God in our knowledge subjects us to acquiring a reprobate mind. The atheist mindset can be found in the intelligent and illiterate alike, and is not an evolving perspective. Many highly educated individuals, including Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Kelvin, and Einstein, recognized God"s existence from the physical creation. Indeed, Dr. Francis Collins, director of the Human Genome Project, found no conflict, but instead profound harmony between science and faith. To many, belief in God has been replaced by belief in the product of advertising agencies.
