Description: Carl Childs, reading a marquis on a local church, "Rummage Sale in Basement" reflects that many of us have held on to "spiritual rummage." Our forebears during the Exodus wanted to go back to 400years of accumulated "rummage" they had picked up in Egypt- including rank idolatry. In Nehemiah 13:7-9, Eliashib took on the rummage of the culture around him. Many of our former fellowship are uncovering rummage they had stored in the basement from previous fellowships, including Sunday keeping. We need to make sure that we have discarded the rummage of our former affiliations, refusing to take on the mindset of those around us. Jesus encourages us as we purge out evil, we don't leave an opening to let it back in. We need to fill our lives with Godly thoughts (laws, statutes, commandments, and character of God) as Nehemiah filled the temple with godly articles. If we don't fill our minds (our spiritual temples) with Godly articles, we'll fill it with rummage. (18 minutes)
